Up-cycling in the Garden

The majority of what I up-cycle is furniture but occasionally I find that one random thing that screams at me "BRING ME HOME AND MAKE ME BEAUTIFUL!!!"
This was an old merchandise rack(I think) heavy duty with metal mess bottom and I knew it had to be a flower planter.  Guess how much it was, give up? $6 !!!

A Case of Mistaken Identity

I got this umm well I think its a vanity but it looked like it used to just be a dresser long long ago.  I thought it was to me neither those things,  so off with the mirror.  I found a shelf that fit perfectly and an architectural topper piece that went on in place of the mirror.  The color I chose was Behr scallion and sanded to let the black show through then put a hand rubbed wax finish and poof!  Now its a country cottage chic hutch.

Charlotte Alexandra III

Yes I have decided to name this piece of furniture, no I have not gone crazy she just looked like she needed a sophisticated name.  She was an out of place orphan stuck on a farm and needed desperately to me rescued.  I used Behr juniper ash and lotus leaf.

I see your true colors shining through...

O' shiny plastic wood I can't help but paint you and hope that your true colors don't come through.    Even though I try really hard you avoid it I couldn't turn down a $40 hutch.  Behr paint with primer does magic on slick surfaces and just about anything really I tease my kids all the time "if they hold still long enough they'll get painted too".  ( the colors are behr atmospheric and stonewashed)
