I love hunting for old used furniture that needs some love and attention the more neglected the better. I would love to share my creations and some of my inspiration with you.
This note was found in the drawer of an old dresser, It's sweet and rare to know the actual history of a piece of furniture or that something actually lasted this long. I tried to restore it best I could while still bringing it up to date. I wanted to keep it timeless yet still accentuate all of the beautiful detail of the wood and curves. If only this dresser could talk !
I bought this table with out really looking at it thinking it would replace our dining room table because the lady said it had three leaves! Well as we were loading it it became clear that this was not going into my house the leaves were only 5" wide (what it the point of that) nonetheless it makes the table a foot shorter than the table I have now. so I painted it to sale in stonewashed by Behr then dry brushed with a chateau color. The legs and detail are beautiful too bad it is too small.
I sometimes find myself painting everything the same color, I find something I love and I stick with it. Right now its blues and greens the rich colors remind me that spring is coming and soon the colors will be everywhere again.
This is a typical 60's dark wood credenza not everyone's cup of tea anymore. So the decision - to paint it keeping with the mid-century style or try and disguise it with pant and new hardware. My solution a compromise I spray painted the original hardware and painted the curved details of the credenza. I painted the majority white and the detail in blue grey then dry brushed the entire piece in elephant skin by Behr.
Well now that the holidays are over and the kids are back in school its time to get back on the blogging train...
This is a really nice and very big (almost 7.5' tall) primitive cabinet that I think was hand made but then fell into disrepair as it lived in someones garage. I think it would fit right into any farm or cottage style kitchen.
