Sophisticated Teal

The color I chose for this little dresser is called Sophisticated Teal by Behr but I think it also describes her well.  It did start as a simple yet boring dresser so I painted some white trim and changed the color of the hardware.  I also added a small wooden embellishment I painted white.  I thought it needed a little bit more character so I painted a little design on the sides and front.

Give the people what they want

                                                       (My beautiful honeysuckle)

I really like how these chairs turned out and believe me they were NOT pretty before.

I have an aversion to painting things white even though I know that's what sells here.  I just can't do it I need color and variety in my life.  I really enjoy painting furniture and getting to be free to create what I want and if I did black and white furniture all day would not be happy.  Every once in a while I'll go there though like these chairs I knew they needed to be rustic white and burlap and they turned out just as I'd imagined them.

Sea Captain's Writing Desk

ok not really a sea captain's but it looks like it could be. (right?)  I got this from my neighbor but sadly he let it sit out in several rain storms so it actually started looking like it was from the sea.  I of coarse had to rescue it from its weathered life giving it a new one at the same time preserving some of its character.

Before

The ugly green leather top was bubbled and pealing so I pulled it all off.
(not an easy task)

After

I tried to use colors to bring out the ones in the old map I used to replace the old leather top.

Yes I used and old Jane Eyre book, it was all I had and no it has nothing to do with the map of Italy hopefully none will notice. Im using my artistic license!
