This is the second time I've painted this huge cabinet. This time I thought I would go classic collectable, painting the white to black and the blue to grey. I then thought I'd get really crazy and add a red stripe leaving the light blue in the middle. I also added the alphabet stencil for some more added character.
This is what it looked like before

That is the neatest shelf ever! My son would love it's military flavor. A great display shelf for all his weaponry. Very creative!
ReplyDeleteSince you asked, I will give you my two cents...;-)
ReplyDeleteI liked the painting that you had before; perhaps some people lacked the imagination and felt too boxed into a patriotic theme if they bought it. Maybe when you staged it before, you shouldn't have had so much Americana. Again, just my head scratching response.
I like the boldness and the graphic punch of the stripe, however putting the whole alphabet makes me think-little kid piece, which may end up working for you because someone might see this and buy it for a boy.
See, some people just love to give their opinion when asked.LOL
And here's my 2 cents, lol - it's all the luck of the draw - I've had pieces where I've changed 3 times -
ReplyDeleteOne dresser I had listed for 2 months - kept lowering the price - then decided I would try one last time before donating to charity - and since it was my last shot - I put the price back up to what I originally wanted and sold it 3 hours later -
The person that bought it fell in love. It depends on who is looking - and the timing...............
Not an easy business to be in for sure.
Love both of your versions by the way
Big hugs,
Suzan
